SANTA BARBARA RESIDENT HAS LIFE-LONG DREAM FULFILLED DURING “A DAY TO DREAM”
Noted TV personality and Carpinteria resident Alan Thicke teamed with the Dream Foundation and La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill to fulfill a life-long dream for 58-year-old Gloria Daleo, a terminally ill adult diagnosed with lung cancer. Daleo, a Santa Barbara resident, received the news at a special luncheon held recently in her honor at La Salsa in Santa Barbara where Thicke informed her that she would receive a weekend of pampering and special treatment at the Bacara Resort & Spa. The presentation marked the debut of a “ A Day To Dream,” a new national fundraising campaign spearheaded by La Salsa benefiting the Dream Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that grants wishes to terminally ill adults and their families.
In addition to the dream presentation, La Salsa donated a portion of the proceeds from the day’s sales at all participating locations across the United States to Dream Foundation.
“We are delighted to have played a role in making Ms. Daleo’s life-long dream come true as well as kick off this new campaign designed to do the same for others across the nation who are suffering from terminal illnesses,” said Mike Liby, executive vice president and COO of La Salsa. “We are grateful that Mr. Thicke joined us for this special ‘A Day To Dream’ presentation and look forward to making many more dreams come true.”
“We are proud to partner with a company that has such a strong commitment to corporate philanthropy,” added Thomas Rollerson, president and founder of Dream Foundation. “On behalf of all of us at Dream Foundation, I wish to thank La Salsa and Mr. Thicke for their generous support in serving the community.”
In addition to his involvement with Dream Foundation, Thicke’s charitable work has been acknowledged by many organizations, including The Father's Day Council of Los Angeles, Muscular Dystrophy Association and The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
La Salsa first partnered with Dream Foundation in November 2002 by providing complimentary meal certificates to dream recipients to use on their dream vacations.
The Dream Foundation is a national pioneer in granting wishes to terminally ill adults and their families. Since it’s founding in 1994, Dream Foundation has fulfilled thousands of dreams from adults who are emotionally, financially and physically devastated by terminal illness. Their goal is to ensure that no adult, whose life will end prematurely due to a terminal illness, must ever pass from this earth without realizing one final wish from the heart.
