LA SALSA “TURNS TABLES” ON GUESTS AND RAISES FUNDS FOR PALOMAR MEDICAL CENTER
San Diego residents turned out in record numbers to lend their support to a unique fundraising campaign spearheaded by La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill in Escondido to raise funds for expanding the emergency medical services department at Palomar Medical Center. La Salsa “turned the tables” on its guests and allowed them to order any single entrée and drink and use their discretion to set the price, with all proceeds raised during the promotion benefiting the non-profit Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation, the hospital’s fundraising arm. The fundraiser generated $2,100 that will directly benefit the capital campaign.
“We are delighted that so many San Diego residents turned out to help us lend support to this very worthy cause,” remarked Michael Liby, executive vice president and COO of La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill. “As a business that operates within the Escondido community, we felt it essential to do all we could not only to increase awareness of Palomar Medical Center’s need to expand its emergency department, but to help raise funds to achieve that goal.”
“We’re grateful to La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill for assisting us in our mission to serve the healthcare needs of the San Diego community,” added Anamaria Repetti, president of Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation, who revealed that La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill will be a sponsor of a hospital gala in May. “On behalf of all of us at the Foundation, I thank them for their generous support of our cause.”
Established in 1951, Palomar Medical Center is the only designated trauma center with a 24-hour emergency department in San Diego’s North County. Originally designed to accommodate 28,000 patients per year, the facility’s emergency unit now provides care for more than 50,000 patients per year and is responsible for serving a 1,400 square-mile area ranging from the California coastline to the Arizona border.
